The frame
What the 300 lb line on the sheet covers, and why buying at the limit is buying wrong.
A rider limit is printed on 28 of the listings in this catalog, and on all of them it reads 300 lb. It is the most load-bearing number on the sheet, in both senses, and the least understood. Here is what it does and does not promise.
The figure covers the whole chain at once: the board flexing under a step, the frame carrying the board, and the motor holding belt speed under load. The motor is the quiet half of that sentence. A heavier rider at a slow pace demands more torque than a light one jogging, because slow belts get the least help from momentum. A machine rated to 300 lb has been sized for that worst case, not just for the frame not bending.
A step is not a standstill. Walking puts around one and a half times body weight through each footfall, and jogging roughly doubles it; the rating already accounts for that arithmetic, but it accounts for it at the limit, with nothing to spare. A rider forty pounds inside the line gets a belt that holds pace evenly, a motor that runs cool and a deck that stays quiet for years. A rider at the line gets a machine doing everything it was ever designed to do, every single session.
Two lines back the limit up. Motor power, listed in HP on the sheets here, is the sustained figure to compare between decks. And the frame type matters: a handlebar gives a steady point of contact at any weight, which is why the treadmill lane is where most of the 300 lb listings live.
Pick from the handlebar frames, favour the stronger motors, and lean on slope instead of speed for effort, since a walk uphill loads the deck far more gently than a run on the flat. The incline guide covers that trade in full, and the machines below all print the 300 lb line on their sheets.
